Professional Standards for BC Educators
The Professional Standards for BC Educators are guidelines for teachers on how to carry themselves professionally, socially, and ethically to maintain integrity in the teaching profession.
I am proud to be part of an organization that upholds high professional standards for its members. The principles, and enforcement of those principles, are key to maintaining dignity and professionalism among an organization and its representatives. Any individual within a group who disregards these professional standards can tarnish the reputation of the entire organization. While the standards tend to be philosophical and provide guidance for how to morally conduct oneself as an educator, they don’t provide a lot of prescriptions for how that might look. In doing so, it acts not as a guidebook, but as a compass to help teachers move in a direction that provides positive and professional outcomes through their practice.
