Researching and creating these various forms of assessment made me realize the options that are available to teachers as far as assessment goes. It has made assessment feel like a more manageable task.
There seems to be a lot of fear around doing assessment. I think that is because criticism can be a thin line between being harsh and mean and being supportive and uplifting. I don’t feel that anxious about providing assessment for my future students because I try to have the mindset where I want to look for the positive in everything. When you can give a comment about something you like, and it is genuine, and your students know it’s genuine, then it does not feel as bad to suggest a few areas for improvement.
